Job Description:
The Software Quality Assurance Engineer will be part of the IEG Vertical Solutions Team responsible for testing NetSuite's and partners' vertical solutions built on the NS BOS platform. The engineer will work in the IEG development team with a focus on vertical specific functionalities. Responsibilities will include: writing test plans for new product features, designing and implementing JavaScript-based automated tests, executing test plans, reporting software bugs, reproducing problems reported by customers, and verifying software bug fixes from development.
The Quality Assurance Engineer will also be tasked with testing NetSuite maintenance releases to ensure they work with solutions from the key SuiteFlex ecosystem partners. The candidate will be asked to provide expert opinions on these partner offerings to various technical teams within the organization.
The successful candidate must be an extremely bright, articulate, and accomplished problem solver, capable of troubleshooting complex software application problems. The incumbent must be able to provide preventative actions to avoid similar future problems, and to make recommendations on corrective actions to resolve existing product and customer problems.
- Work with software development and product management to ensure vertical solutions meet and exceed product requirements and customer expectations.
- Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and testing methodologies to measure software quality.
- Develop test scripts for extension points testing.
- Perform compatibility tests of NetSuite maintenance releases with key partner solutions; keep abreast of the latest development of these partner products; pro-actively provide feedback to product development to prevent incompatibility issues from occurring.
- Understands who internal/external customers are and meets expectations.
- Verify and document software defects reported internally or externally from customers/partners; provide recommendation to development if appropriate.
- Work closely with the support organization to ensure customer reported defects will be addressed in a timely manner; provide temporary workaround where applicable.
- Automate test processes to improve QA efficiency.
- Communicates professionally, accurately and punctually, both verbally and in writing; accepts feedback with open mind; manages conflict constructively; participate in cross-functional team projects and roles; help foster innovation and information sharing in the work environment.
Qualifications/Skills:
- B.S. Degree, preferably in Computer Science or equivalent.
- 2-4 years experience in software quality and testing methodologies, preferably for multi-tiered Internet applications.
- 1-2 years experience in systems development using Java, JavaScript, XML. Solid understanding of HTTP, Internet protocols is also crucial.
- Strong communication skills — the successful candidate is expected to collaborate with multiple technical teams (support, QA) within the organization during product development, QA and maintenance cycles.
- Prior experience with the ERP and/or CRM functionality and/or implementation of at least one major Enterprise Application is desirable.
- Experience with a popular IDE (Eclipse, VisualStudio) is desirable.
- General knowledge of RDBMS is beneficial.
- Self-starter with both a proactive attitude to solve problems and the ability to work in a very fast paced environment.
