NetSuite announces new customer wins in pet products industry

NetSuite Cloud Business Management Suite Becoming the Solution of Choice Among Manufacturers, Distributors and Retailers of Pet Products

SAN MATEO, Calif.—July 29, 2014—NetSuite Inc. (NYSE: N), the industry's leading provider of cloud-based financials / ERP and omnichannel commerce software suites, today announced a number of new customer wins, continuing adoption momentum among the fast-growing pet products industry, which the American Pet Products Association estimates is worth $58.5 billion in the U.S. in 2014, up 21 percent since 2010.1

Companies announced today include GameWear, Pet Head and That Pet Place, which are among a growing number of manufacturers, distributors and retailers of pet goods that are capitalizing on NetSuite's single, integrated cloud business management suite for greater agility, flexibility, scalability and end-to-end process efficiencies. For NetSuite customers, integrated cloud ERP, CRM and ecommerce are driving significant improvements in revenue, inventory and order management efficiency, and enabling seamless omnichannel sales across online, call center and physical point of sale (POS) touchpoints. This is especially the case with NetSuite's pet goods merchants, who are reporting dramatic improvements into the visibility of key business metrics with NetSuite while eliminating onerous manual tasks across all core business functions.

With NetSuite, pet product merchants have been able to significantly improve their competitive position against larger rivals with economies of scale that are impossible for smaller companies to match using traditional on-premise servers and manual processes. NetSuite enables these manufacturers, distributors and retailers of products for dogs, cats and other animals to:

  • Convert leads to orders, orders to shipments and shipments to revenue with NetSuite's advanced warehouse, inventory management and order fulfillment capabilities.
  • Gain a real-time, 360-degree view of customers and provide better customer service through NetSuite's seamless integration of CRM with financials and other back-office systems.
  • Run their online business with NetSuite SuiteCommerce which is natively integrated with order management, financials, fulfillment, inventory, CRM and more.
  • Grow revenues, enter new markets and improve channel partner engagement with tools for partner relationship management (PRM).
  • Eliminate manual processes and IT systems maintenance by running the business in the cloud.
  • Monitor and manage the business with the ultimate customizable business dashboard, providing real-time visibility and drill-down into key metrics.

"Pet industry merchants excel at delighting consumers with innovative and useful products for their cherished pets, not dealing with IT headaches and tedious business processes," said Ranga Bodla, NetSuite Senior Director of Industry Marketing. "It's great to see so many pet merchants gain the agility and scalability they need for growth by using the ERP solution of choice in the pet market."

The expanding NetSuite customer base of pet goods manufacturers, distributors and retailers includes GameWear, Pet Head and That Pet Place:

GameWear (www.gamewear.com), a manufacturer, distributor and retailer of unique sports-themed necklaces, bracelets and other accessories, has leveraged NetSuite to introduce new product lines in the pet industry. Based in Hoboken, N.J., GameWear introduced 1,500 new SKUs for pet owners in 2013, including leashes and collars made of sports ball leather and materials, bearing the logos of professional and collegiate U.S. sports teams. With an ecommerce website powered by NetSuite SuiteCommerce, GameWear enables consumers to custom-order goods, such as adding the name "Fido" to a New York Yankees dog collar. The pet industry rollout builds on the success GameWear has achieved since replacing QuickBooks and a PVG Commerce website in early 2011. The company has grown its number of retail partner locations in North America to nearly 7,500, including Modell's, Sports Authority, Target and Hallmark, selling 3,500 SKUs of its trademark bracelets, necklaces, keychains and other goods made of sports ball materials. While on NetSuite, GameWear has increased its revenue 40 percent, eliminated raw materials ordering delays of up to nine weeks, and saved more than seven hours a week managing inventory levels. "NetSuite has definitely helped us scale into the pet industry," said Frank Cerullo, GameWear CEO and Co-Founder. "We've found NetSuite to be very flexible, and our order-to-cash process is seamless. I firmly believe that if business doubled overnight, we could handle that growth with NetSuite."

Pet Head (www.petheadinc.com), a manufacturer, distributor and retailer of pet shampoos and other grooming products, has gained agility and scalability for rapid growth since upgrading from QuickBooks to NetSuite in 2013. Founded in 2007 by Kyara Mascolo who created the popular "TIGI Bed Head" human hair care brand, Pet Head has grown revenue 42 percent while using NetSuite for financials, inventory and order management, and CRM, and expanded its business across 25 countries in Europe, Asia and Latin America, as well as Australia. Based in West Hollywood, Calif., Pet Head has increased its distributors and retail partners from 900 to 1,200, including Walmart, Walgreens and Target, with EDI solutions from NetSuite partners B2BGateway and TrueCommerce handling transactions with large retailers. NetSuite automation and Pet Head's customization of the system has enabled the company to increase its billing efficiency by 20 percent while scaling to handle a 40 percent increase in order volumes. Later in 2014, Pet Head has plans to implement NetSuite SuiteCommerce for both B2C and B2B sales, moving from a distributor partner website that now offers direct-to-consumer sales. On the supplier side, NetSuite has provided new control and visibility in working with domestic contract manufacturers that produce Pet Head products to specifications.

"NetSuite has helped tremendously with the growth we've had by enabling us to automate what had been a lot of tedious manual processes," said Diara Burris, Pet Head Operations Manager. "NetSuite has taken us from an entrepreneurial venture to a company with a solid foundation and great ability to analyse our numbers to grow even further."

That Pet Place (www.thatpetplace.com), a physical and ecommerce retailer of aquarium and pet products based in Lancaster, Pa., has dramatically improved its business efficiency and visibility since moving from a Systemax PCS solution to NetSuite in March 2012. Selected over Microsoft Dynamics, Salesforce and JDA Ecometry, NetSuite powers core business processes in B2B and B2C channels, and has helped That Pet Place expand its B2B business to government agencies, universities and other institutions. That Pet Place has improved order efficiency by 30 percent compared to the manual processes of the past, while improving compliance with state shipping regulations on live fish and certain chemicals.

The company has reduced inventory carrying costs by more than 10 percent with NetSuite inventory management, covering 20,000 SKUs, and a demand planning solution from NetSuite partner Valogix. With NetSuite's CRM capabilities, That Pet Place has a single view of customer interactions across its SuiteCommerce-powered website and its 110,000-square-foot retail store in Lancaster. NetSuite CRM data also supports aggressive B2B and B2C email marketing and a loyalty club program used by 96 percent of retail customers. "NetSuite financials and reporting has made our lives so much easier," said COO Rick Amour. "We've had a big advantage in cost savings by moving ecommerce content management from IT to back-office staff because NetSuite is so easy to use. We've repurposed IT staff from maintaining internal systems to innovating with customizations to add features and functions across departments."

Today, more than 20,000 companies and subsidiaries depend on NetSuite to run complex, mission-critical business processes globally in the cloud. Since its inception in 1998, NetSuite has established itself as the leading provider of enterprise-class cloud financials/ERP suites for divisions of large enterprises and mid-sized organisations seeking to upgrade their antiquated client/server ERP systems. NetSuite excels at streamlining business operations as demonstrated in a recent Gartner study naming NetSuite as the fastest growing financial management software vendor on a global basis. NetSuite continues its success in delivering the best cloud ERP/financials suites to businesses around the world, enabling them to lower IT costs significantly while increasing productivity, as the global adoption of the cloud is accelerating.
