Job Description:
This position is for a Senior Network Engineer / UNIX Systems Administrator in the UNIX / Network Operations group. The employee will have work assignments with the international enterprise network, server operating systems, performance improvements, monitoring, disaster recovery, scalability planning, and overall process improvements. This employee will be part of the on-call 24/7 pager rotation (one week per month).

Responsibilities:

• Monitor, maintain, and upgrade the enterprise network
• Evaluate, install, debug, audit, and maintain UNIX server farms
• Assist in managing the OS test, release, and push processes
• Automate configuration, monitoring, and asserting the state of network equipment, production servers, and storage through a template/image architecture
• Architect, implement, and administer a change management framework with the Operations technical team
• Be a part of an on call rotation that does 24x7 monitoring, and be accessible via pager and/or cell phone
• Take training courses that align with corporate objectives to bridge skill gaps and learn new relevant technologies

Current Challenges:

• Upgrade network infrastructure
• Architect, deploy, and audit security infrastructure
• Help design and implement increased network monitoring and performance
• International multi-environment / data center deployment
• Assist in mapping out current and future performance and scalability issues and solutions
• Ensure standardization between domestic and international datacenters

Must Have Skills:

• Cisco routing and switching, IP networking, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, HSRP experience
• SNMP monitoring experience
• 3 years (minimum) in a high volume 24x7 production environment
• Strong UNIX shell scripting / automation experience (Bourne shell, bash, perl, sed/awk, etc.) in sizeable server farms, template/push architecture
• UNIX Experience (RedHat Linux preferred) - architecture, implementation, monitoring, troubleshooting
• OS Protocols / Applications (DNS, SMTP, NFS, Apache, etc.)
• Commitment to documentation
• Clear programming style in scripting
• Clear communication with SAs, DBAs, release team, infrastructure team
• Ability to prioritize and detail-oriented

Nice to Have Skills:

• CCDP, CCNP, or CCIE certifications
• Data Center experience
• Netscaler or PIX experience
• Web Automation (PHP, CGI, Perl)
• Change Management Environment
• Nagios / Netsaint / SiteScope
• MRTG / Cricket / RRD
• DB Environment (Oracle preferred)
• Compaq / HP Hardware experience (Proliant), preferably with RedHat Linux
