World No. 1 and 2012 Champion Gregory Gaultier Returns to Justin Herman Plaza
SAN FRANCISCO—July 31, 2014—The NetSuite Open Squash Championships return to San Francisco for the third consecutive year September 24–30 with five days of play at the South Lawn of Justin Herman Plaza on an all-glass portable squash court, NetSuite Inc. (NYSE: N), the industry's leading provider of cloud-based financials / Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and omnichannel commerce software suites, and Event Engine jointly announced today.
France's Gregory Gaultier, the world's top ranked player, looks to claim his second NetSuite Open championship this year after winning the title in 2012 and falling to Ramy Ashour in the final of the 2013 championship. The 31-year-old is coming off winning his second Allam British Open—squash's most historic tournament—in May.
The seven-time French National Title winner owns a 379-117 lifetime record (.764) on the PSA Tour during his distinguished 15-year career. He has won 25 PSA tournaments, including the British Open, U.S. Open, Tournament of Champions, NetSuite Open, Windy City Open and Qatar Classic.
"Gregory will always hold a special place in NetSuite Open history as our first major champion back in 2012, and we're excited to welcome him back to San Francisco," said Evan Goldberg, NetSuite's co-founder, Chief Technology Officer and Chairman of the Board. "Having a player of Gregory's calibre compete in all three NetSuite Opens speaks to the cache our tournament has with the players on the PSA tour."
Sanctioned by the Professional Squash Association, the PSA International 70 NetSuite Open is one of the top 15 professional tournaments in the world as determined by prize money. With a $70,000 purse, the winner will earn $11,300.
"The NetSuite Open is just one of four elite pro squash championships to be played here in the U.S.," said John Nimick, a U.S. Squash Hall of Famer and President of Event Engine, Inc., the tournament producer. "The 'Glass Cube' has made stops at New York's Grand Central Terminal, Symphony Hall in Boston, beside the Great Pyramids in Egypt and the Hong Kong Harbor, but being at the foot of the Bay Bridge is one of most picturesque settings on the squash tour."
The early rounds, comprising two rounds of Qualifying and six matches in the First Round (final 16) of the Main Draw will be played at Stanford University, the Bay Club San Francisco, Olympic Club and University Club. Two first round matches, Quarterfinals, Semi-Finals and Championship will be played at Justin Herman Plaza.
Some 450 reserved seats are available for the NetSuite Open, ranging in price from $30 to $250. For tickets, draws, schedule and more information, please visit www.NetSuiteOpenSquash.com. Follow the NetSuite Open on Facebook and Twitter.
