NetSuite Helps Honey Stinger Nourish a Decade of Business Growth

Founded in Steamboat Springs, Colo., Honey Stinger has seen steadily rising revenues from its growing assortment of honey-infused waffles, gels, chews, bars and hydration powders. As its retail partners expanded to include large brands like Target, Walmart, Amazon, Whole Foods and REI, its QuickBooks system could no longer scale with the business.

“In the time that I've been here, we've launched three new products with more on the way. Being able to see those products from start to finish and bring them to market through our partnership with NetSuite has been a really smooth process.” Cornell Brown, NetSuite Administrator, Honey Stinger

Managing Growth, Transitions With Cloud ERP

Choosing NetSuite over SAP, Microsoft
After selecting NetSuite over Microsoft Dynamics GP and SAP Business ByDesign, Honey Stinger went live in 2012 in just 10 weeks and continued its upward trajectory, adding collegiate sports and professional teams to its customer base and managing nearly 400 items across their various distribution channels. NetSuite also provided a single system for managing fulfilment and financials, avoiding the cumbersome manual processes previous disconnected systems created.
Pivoting to meet market demands
As the company expanded through distribution gains and product development, Honey Stinger realised its highest grossing revenue months in company history and determined it needed to add a 3PL warehouse to keep up with demand and improve efficiency.
Easy allocation
With NetSuite, Honey Stinger was able to shift to a full 3PL model, adding a second warehouse in Kansas City for the B2B side of its business and shifting its Pennsylvania 3PL to purely handle B2C orders. Incoming inventory from contract manufacturers could be routed directly to the proper location, no longer requiring receiving at one warehouse and reshipping to additional locations. Instead, inventory is directed to its final destination automatically from within NetSuite.
A clear path forward
Honey Stinger recently completed a customisation with NetSuite Professional Services to implement logic that will provide financial reporting consistent with internal requirements. Honey Stinger is also evaluating adding Demand Planning and Advanced Financials to allow better insight into inventory needs and inform financial decisions.
