Fairtrade International trades legacy processes for NetSuite cloud

Global Non-Profit Selects NetSuite OneWorld to Manage Complex International Supply Chain Across a Network of 6,500 Distinct organisations

NetSuite OneWorld Will Enable Fairtrade to Manage Businesses with More Than 3,000 Licensees in 70 Countries

LONDON and SAN MATEO, Calif. — December 5, 2011 — NetSuite Inc. (NYSE: N), the industry's leading provider of cloud-based financials / ERP software suites, today announced that Fairtrade International, the international non-profit that tackles poverty and injustice through trade, is implementing NetSuite OneWorld, the first and only cloud-based system to deliver real-time global business management to enterprises with multinational and multi-subsidiary operations. Fairtrade is rolling out NetSuite OneWorld to manage and drive growth throughout its enormous network that encompasses over 6,500 distinct organisations globally, connecting producers, exporters, farmers, processors, labelling initiatives and finance partners.

Based in Bonn, Germany, Fairtrade International (FLO) is an internationally recognised non-profit organisation that works to secure fairer trade terms so that farmers and workers in developing countries can invest in a better future for themselves and their communities. Its 25 member global organisation helps producers in developing countries arrange better trading conditions and promote sustainability. With nearly 3,000 licensees around the world selling Fairtrade products in over 70 countries, global sales of Fairtrade products soared by 27 percent in 2010 to an estimated retail value of £4.36bn. Brands bearing the Fairtrade mark include: Ben and Jerry's, Starbucks, Cadbury/Kraft Foods, Sainsbury's, and more.

Fairtrade's legacy systems and processes hampered their rapid global growth. Prior to NetSuite they relied on a cumbersome and complex set of legacy and paper-based processes to manage their thousands of international relationships across farmers, workers and brands, while manual spreadsheet based human resource processes reduced employee productivity. With NetSuite OneWorld, Fairtrade will develop the capability to run its complex global business operations efficiently, drive strong relationships across its global network, ensure alignment of supply with demand, and ensure transparency to drive grants revenue:

  • Drives Global Operations across Currencies and Geographies. With headquarters based in Bonn, Germany, Fairtrade is leveraging the power of the NetSuite cloud to support its distributed employees across the world streamlining employee management and self-service processes.
  • Powers One-to-One Relationships with 6,500+ organisations Worldwide. With NetSuite OneWorld, Fairtrade will manage relationships with over 6,500 unique organisations across its network globally. The unified view of each entity will eliminate wasted effort, enabling Fairtrade and its multiple member organisation to deal with similarly complex international brands on a truly one-to-one basis.
  • Transparency that Drives Grants Revenue and Track Compliance: NetSuite's comprehensive analytics will improve the transparency and accuracy of Fairtrade's reporting—a vital tool in acquiring and maintaining grants from private and public charities and foundations. NetSuite OneWorld's comprehensive, integrated enterprise solution will make it possible for Fairtrade to accurately tally and report the supply of product to member branding organisations, and track compliance with its standards throughout the sourcing and retailing process.
  • Efficiently Aligns Producers with Demand. NetSuite OneWorld will provide Fairtrade with faster and more accurate matching of global supply with product demand, making it easier for Fairtrade to pair demand for Fairtrade-certified product with guaranteed supply from Southern Hemisphere growers and workers delivering through the Fairtrade system.

NetSuite's highly customizable cloud computing platform is well-suited to the needs of organisations changing the world. Leading fair trade companies like Guayaki and Salt Spring Coffee are reaping the benefits of NetSuite, that includes managing inventory, accounting, international consolidation, reporting, real-time analytics, and low-cost, reliable operations. Leading nonprofits like Kiva and the National Runaway Switchboard leverage NetSuite's flexible reporting and powerful analytics tools, making it easy for non-profit enterprises to evaluate the social impact of their operations, alongside conventional notions such as operating margin and cash flow. Through NetSuite's corporate citizenship activities—NetSuite.org—NetSuite actively supports both nonprofits and social enterprises in using NetSuite effectively to help change the world.

Today, more than 10,000 companies and subsidiaries depend on NetSuite to run complex, mission-critical business processes globally in the cloud. Since its inception in 1998, NetSuite has established itself as the leading provider of enterprise-class cloud ERP suites for divisions of large enterprises and mid-sized organisations seeking to upgrade their antiquated client/server ERP systems. NetSuite excels at streamlining business operations, as demonstrated by the 2011 CODiE Award for Best Financial Management Solution, as well as a recent Gartner study naming NetSuite as the fastest growing financial management systems vendor in the world. NetSuite has continued its success in delivering the best cloud business suites to businesses around the world, enabling them to lower IT costs significantly while increasing productivity, as the global adoption of the cloud is accelerating.
