The Folio Society, an independent publisher of beautifully illustrated hardback books, is using Oracle NetSuite to support its ambition to deliver iconic literature to more readers around the world. With NetSuite, Folio has been able to take advantage of an integrated business system to gain a unified view of its operations, automate critical business processes, enhance decision making, and improve the experience it delivers to its customers.
Celebrating its 75th anniversary last year and now operating as an Employee Ownership Trust, Folio sets the standard in fine-book publishing with high-spec collector editions, including recent publications across the Game of Thrones series. After launching a new online platform and ecommerce strategy in 2018, Folio realised it would need to rethink its existing ERP, finance, and sales tracking systems. Folio selected NetSuite and implementation partner SANSA Solutions to integrate its critical operations, support its growth journey in the U.S., and automate the management of finance, order, and inventory processes.
“NetSuite has helped Folio to continue to grow and enabled us to gain a better understanding of our business than in the whole of the 75 years we’ve been operating.” said Mark Mainstone, technology & business services director, The Folio Society. “Over ninety percent of our staff is using NetSuite, and the system’s ability to connect data across multiple departments means our staff can make more informed decisions based on the same real-time information.”
With NetSuite as its command centre, Folio has been able to improve and automate processes across finance, customer service, order fulfilment, reporting, and analysis. For example, Folio employees are now receiving timely, accurate information about sales and inventory, and have access to the customer insights they need to deliver an outstanding omnichannel experience. NetSuite is also integrated with Folio’s website and third-party logistics services and applications, which has contributed to Folio gaining a more complete view of its business, improving decision making, and saving time by cutting down on inefficient processes. NetSuite will also be useful to Folio when extending its growth path in the U.S. by providing support with respect to tax regulations, as well as helping Folio use data analysis to inform strategic decisions.
“The Folio Society has built a brand that has stood the test of time, publishing some of the world’s favourite books that people love and have a strong connection to,” said Nicky Tozer, SVP, EMEA, Oracle NetSuite. “Although its books are not high-tech, Folio is modernising its business with the help of NetSuite so that it can reach even more readers and continue to deliver a great customer experience.”
